Community Collaborations

​​These are a few collaborations within various communities. Some project ideas I conceived and others I participated in the process of collaboration.

Art is a clear passion of mine that naturally fills me with happiness. Everyone has a tough day in their own respects. What would happen if on that tough day you are walking through town and you come across this colorful collaboration or piece of public art? For me, pure bliss. ​

More often than not, it has a purpose. To acknowledge or bring awareness to something. Whether the theme is light and airy like the images of fairytale characters on an enlarged shoe or more serious themes of safety and human rights, these collaborations change one's thought process (at least for the moment).

In my little town in Guatemala, the streets are filled with murals depicting traditional customs, knowledge of Mayan Cosmology, awareness to violence towards women and more. Among a culture with higher rates of illiteracy, these murals really do serve a purpose. Art can cause social change and another avenue of self-expression. Visual communication can be as valid as written and verbal forms.
