The series is a culmination of my passions for art, architecture and culture. I enjoy learning history through the lens of art and architecture. Social, political and cultural customs and events play an enormous role in the styles of architecture and images depicted in the arts. This series explores various portals, doors and windows and their test of time over the years. The arch is durable and lasts centuries, even when the structure appears weathered, it functions. Even beyond the appearance and durability of the structure are stories. Who lived within? Who passed through? What events happened here? These paintings show the many layers of what appears to be just a simple shape - both portals of physical space and time.
